Racism in the Elevator
Racism has been a major issue for individuals for many years. It has effect the lives of many people. An individual race had begun the whole racism issue. It all started back with slavery. Whites thought that other races such as blacks were inferior to them. They thought their race was the best of all. They were starting to mistreat blacks. They treated them very poorly. They acted as if they were not humans. In the video “Racism in the Elevator it demonstrates how the woman is being racist to the black male. It also indicates the typical stereotype about black males. The stereotype that is being displayed in this video is that black males steal.
In the video “Racism in the Elevator” which can be found on www.youtube.com, racism is being displayed. The video demonstrates how the white lady is being racist to the black male on the elevator. In the video the white is on the elevator. When the elevator stop and a black male enters, the lady move to the back away from him. This indicates that she is racist because she didn’t want to stand next to a black man. She the grabs her purse and hold it with a tight grip. This always indicates that she is racist because she demonstrates the typical stereotype. The stereotype that is being viewed in this video is that black men steal and the first thing he may grab is your purse which explains why she holds it with a tight grip.

Also, in the video the black male speaks his thoughts out loud about the situation. I believe the author did this to let the audience know how the person who is being mistreated feel. In the video the black male says out loud that most people who are racist may not think their action is obvious. However it is. The male says that he notice how she move to the back and grab her purse. He also states that this action provokes a situation. He feels that since she acted the way she did, it makes the person want to attempt to act the way that the racist person thought. He states that just because this is a stereotype, it doesn’t mean that every person is the same way. Each person is different and assuming things about someone is not right because it may not be true. Also, in the video when the man scared her on purpose, she gives him the purse as if that is what he was trying to take. Just as they say you should not judge a book by its covers, this should be applied to humans to because each individual is different.
